I accomplished my goal!
I completed a 10 day fast with water only.
They asked me to attempt 21 days to get the full benefits of the fast, but I thought it would be amazing if I could do 10 days, and I did it!
I've lost 25 lbs, my blood pressure (tested daily) has never been over 120/80. In fact it's been as low as 110/65 and my blood gluclose is down to 80....all achieved with no medications and eliminating the health risks of side effects from the medications.
Three years ago I topped out at 341 lbs....now I am under 270 lbs.
Earlier this year, my blood gluclose was 260..... now it's under 80...with no medication!
My doctors prescribed (4) different medications and strongly suggested Gastric Bypass surgery to solve my health problems.....and I agree when all else fails, we always have that route, but instead I started reading and learning about Dr Ornish, Dr Barnard, Dr, Klapper, Dr. Eselstyn, Dr Lisle, Jeff Novick, Dr Goldhammer, Dr Joel Fuhrman, and Dr John McDougall.... a group of dedicated health care professionals that have tens of thousands of case studies from patients that changed their diet to a plant based, whole food diet and it drastically improved their health, many times completely reversing chronic diseases.
SO I started eating better, reducing Meat, fish, dairy, sugar, oil, salt, COFFEE, JACK Danials, and all processed foods.....and walking a lot.....trying to average 7500 steps/day...as calculated on an app on my I-phone.
I'm far from perfect, but I am on the right path!
My weight is down, my sugar is down, my cholesteral is down.....and the inflamation in my body that is contributing to my stiffness and arthritis has gotten better!
Opinions are like assholes, everyone has one! I've had a few people comment to me that they could never do it....that what I am doing is too drastic or radical? It amazes me how much useless and wrong information flows in and out of peoples heads. Where do you get protein seems to be the biggest concern.....The hospitals are filled with people dying from heart disease, cancer, diabetes, etc....and there are no known cases of any American dying from lack of protein, yet we have been brainwashed that we need more protein.....or we need more dairy, or yogurt, or eggs.....all have so much fat that clogs the arteries, we have all gone crazy!
So I found a lifestyle or diet that is easy and works for me....I'm not perfect, I'm not advocating it for my friends, just sharing my experiences...no need to criticize me or make negative comments defending the FDA that lies to us all, or the Health Care System, or the Pharmaceutical Industry.... because although they are great for critical care, trauma, emregencies, they do not understand chronic diseases that have been increasing in America becasue of the SAD, (Standard American Diet) that has too much fat, oil, sugar, salt, and processed fake foods.

My Goal is to lose 100 lbs. by changing my nutrition focus based on Dr. McDougall's Starch Diet. Day 11 at True North Health Center
Today is my 9th day of a WATER ONLY fasting program.
When I first got here, I met with Dr. Klapper and he suggested a 20 day fast. I really thought he was crazy! I thought 20 days without food? WTF?
Since I've been here, I've met a number of people from around the world that have fasted over 20 days. I also have met many repeat clients that come here once a year to maintain and prevent health problems.
I decided to take it one day at a time, and shoot for 10 days.
Today is day 9, I'm feeling strong and my vitals are all very good. I think I could go 20 days, but I've already made travel arrangements and True North is very popular and they need my room for incoming "fasters".
The sad thing about only making it 10 days. I can;t believe I just wrote "Only 10 days"....is that a lot of the fasting benefits really kick in after day 14. It take at least 7 days to clear out the old "Stuff"...all the toxins from chemicals and pharmaceuticals. The body starts getting into a natural state of ketosis and starts healing itself from inflammation.

Amazing day 9 and I am still having productive BM's.....One of the theory's of colon cancer is when we eat meat and processed food it doesn't have enough fiber to move through the bowels in a timely manner, instead it digests(rots) more slowly allowing all the chemicals and anti-biotics to be absorb in the colon..... bottom line....eat more fiber and less fatty meat and processed foods to avoid colon
cancer.

Day 9 - True North Health Center
Today is my 6th day fasting on water only.
Yes, I'm hungry, but I have a desire to reach my goal of 10 days.
Yes, I've lost a lot of weight. I will disclose the numbers on the last day here. You will be amazed!
Yesterday, Dr. Goldhammer was the afternoon lecturer. He is an amazing passionate advocate that has been spreading the word of eating a plant-based diet for good health. I think the group of plant-based doctors were all very frustrated when the Atkins Diet got popular, becasue they all work so hard spreading the word. They all agree that people on the Atkins diet lose weight, but the long term affects of digesting the fat and cholesteral will do more harm in the long run. Dr. Goldhammer mentioned that Dr Atkins died after his second heart attack and was very fat when he died... 258 lbs and his wife refused to allow an autopsy.

I feel pretty good today, considering I havent eaten anything in 6 days. It has given me new confidence that when I'm hungry, I can holdout a little longer....It's about mind control!

Day 8 - True North Health Center
Today is the 8th day at the center....and the 5th day of my water only fasting program.
Yes, I am still hungry, but I set a GOAL to make it to 10 days, and as long as they let me keep going, I want to test my resolve and see if I can make a 10 day water only fast. I'm half way there!
I've met some really interesting people with all kinds of medical problems ranging from Diabetes, heart disease, gout, arthritis, obesity, and even cancer. All searching for a solution to their health problem through fasting and plant based diets as opposed to Pharmacuetical solutions that have many side effects and many times treat symptoms but not fix the disease. Some of them have fasted over 20 days and have lived here for months at a time....amazing!
The chronic dieseases in America are usually brought on by eating a poor diet. SOS - Sugar, Oil, Salt, Dairy, Animal Flesh, Coffee, Booze, and Smoking....all creating inflamation in the body and affecting the Immune System.
There are a lot of repeaters here, people that want a refresher or to get back on the horse again after falling off..... This is a true struggle for many of us and it requires a fight like fighting drug addiction, maybe even more difficult because we are social creatures that eat out with friends and celebrate holidays and birthdays with food and alcohol.
I'm hungry and tired and I've had some leg pains today, which the doctor has explained they are a result from toxins leaving my body? I've lost a lot of weight in a very short period of time....to be revealed on my final day here, October 31....the "Big" reveal will be amazing...stay tuned!

The most amazing thing is that after 5 days of water only, I am still having productive BM's.....I keep thinking about the John Wayne urband legend story about the 40 lbs of fecal matter impacted in his colon.... Water only for 5 days, where is this stuff coming from?

Day 7 - True North Health
Wow..... Powerful dreams last night!
Must have been stirred up from the Gator loss and the FSU win?
My dream had me listening to a friend at a company meeting.... and calling me "Momma"..... He was talking like a Southern Baptist Preacher addressing his employees about a company party that was coming up.. and he was ranting how much better his parties were than when "momma" was in charge. He was trying to be funny by belittling me, but it was insulting, his employees weren't laughing, because he was being a jerk, I felt very uncomfortable, so I left.
When I left the meeting, I had to go into a multi-level parking garage and get on my horse .....when I got to my horse, my Thai friend, Hui had brought me a bowl of spicy beef basil with rice and a fried egg on top.. I remembered that I'm at True North fasting, but I was so tempted, I had a bite, than another, and another.... Until it was almost all gone.
I got on my horse and trotted out of the parking garage.
Today is Day 4 of the fast.... I've decided not to go 20 days..... I'm going to shoot for 10 days on water only..:: and than 5 days of broth and veggie Juice.

True North Health Center - Fasting Update
Today is Day 5 at the True North Health Center.
The first two days, I was required to eat a "Pre-Fasting" diet to prepare the body for the Fasting process. The first two days food included Fresh Fruits, Steamed Veggies, and various bean soups....and water.
I started the water only fast on Day 3....Yes, WATER ONLY.
I'm hungry...but focused on my goal to get reduce of my inflamation, sore joints, high blood sugar (pre-diabetes), high blood pressure, and lose a few pounds.
Obviously, I've already lost a few pounds and clothes are starting to get a little loose.
The True North facility is a live-in facility with about 40 people stating here at any time. People come for many health reasons searching to re-boot their body and fight off Breast Cancer, Prostate Cancer, Heart Disease, Diabetes, and all sorts of Immune System problems.
There is daily yoga classes and afternoon lectures everyday.
Today we had a presentation by psychologist, Dr. Doug Lisle.

Water only Fast?
After a long day, three flights, I arrived in Santa Rosa for my visit at the True North Health Center.
I was greeted by a very enthusiastic intern (from UF) that checked me in and explained the process for the next few days. Since I failed to comply with the "pre-fast" diet of fruits and veggies only (airplane food got the better part of me), I'll start my fasting expereince by not fasting? They think it's better to ease into the fasting program and advised me to eat a little before I go into the fasting regiment..... Cool!
This morning, the "Official" check-in, registration, and physical exam....and being assigned to legendary physician, Dr. Michael Klaper, M.D....what a great guy!
